Switch 2 Games To Look Forward To (That We Know About)

Nintendo Switch 2 is launching in only a few days, but Nintendo has a line-up of games to follow the launch with a stacked release calendar with something for everyone. Today I’m going to check out the first party and third party games we know about coming to Nintendo Switch 2.

Before we dive into things, it is Summer Games Fest season. So it’s likely by the time you see this release dates and other games have been announced, which will only add to this great list of upcoming games for Nintendo Switch 2.

Without further delay, lets dive into the games.

Donkey Kong Bananza – 17th July

Donkey Kong Bananza is a 3D platformer and action-adventure game. In his first major outing since Tropical Freeze and first 3D game since Donkey Kong 64, Donkey Kong sets out to recover stolen Golden Bananas—diamond-shaped treasures—taken by a villainous ape gang called VoidCo. Set in underground, sandbox-like levels, the game emphasizes exploration and environmental destruction, allowing players to smash terrain, dig paths, and uncover secrets. With help from a talking stone companion named Odd Rock, players complete missions, battle enemies, solve puzzles, and interact with familiar characters like Cranky Kong. The game also features collectibles like Banandium and fossils, challenge areas, and side-scrolling segments reminiscent of the classic Donkey Kong Country games.

Super Mario Party Jamboree + Jamboree TV – 24th July

Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV is an enhanced and exclusive version of the popular party game, designed specifically for the Nintendo Switch 2. Launching on July 24, 2025, this edition introduces Jamboree TV, a brand-new interactive mode that features audience-style gameplay with camera and microphone integration. Players can appear in-game via CameraPlay using a compatible USB-C camera, enabling face and motion tracking in select minigames. The updated Joy-Con 2 supports mouse-like controls and HD rumble 2, while the system’s built-in mic allows for voice-activated challenges. New game modes like Bowser Live and Carnival Coaster complement the classic Mario Party experience across seven themed boards.

Pokemon Legends Z-A – 16th October

Pokémon Legends: Z-A is an upcoming 2025 action RPG developed by Game Freak for the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. A sequel to Pokémon X and Y and follow-up to Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the game is set entirely in Lumiose City, Kalos, inspired by Paris. Departing from traditional turn-based battles, it features a real-time combat system with dynamic positioning, dodging, and timing mechanics. New gameplay elements include Z-A Royale, a nighttime battle zone where trainers can ambush each other, and bonus card side quests that contribute to ranking up through promotion battles.

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake – 30th October

DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake is a reimagined collection of the first two classic entries in the legendary Erdrick Trilogy, combining both adventures into one modern package. In DRAGON QUEST I, players take on the role of Erdrick’s descendant, destined to defeat the evil Dragonlord and restore peace to Alefgard. DRAGON QUEST II takes place years later, as a new generation of Erdrick’s royal descendants must rise against a fresh wave of darkness and monsters threatening the world. Together, these tales of heroism and legacy are revived with HD-2D visuals for a new era. DRAGON QUEST III was great, and the HD2D visuals look fantastic in these games.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 – Summer 2025

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is an upcoming skateboarding remake developed by Iron Galaxy. Reviving the classic Pro Skater 3 and 4, it retains the iconic arcade-style gameplay and trick-based mechanics while incorporating modern enhancements like 4K visuals, smoother animations, and improved lighting. Unlike the original Pro Skater 4, the remake replaces its free-roam career mode with a two-minute objective-based run, though optional timers can extend playtime. The game includes both original and new maps, a mix of old and new music tracks, online multiplayer with cross-play, and expanded Create-A-Skater and Create-A-Park features for deep customization.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment – Winter 2025

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is an upcoming hack-and-slash action game developed by Koei Tecmo’s AAA Games Studio. A crossover between The Legend of Zelda and Dynasty Warriors franchises, it serves as a prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Continuing the series’ fast-paced, large-scale combat style, the game features characters like Princess Zelda and Rauru battling hordes of enemies. It was officially revealed during the April 2025 Nintendo Direct alongside the Nintendo Switch 2.

Witchbrook – Winter 2025

Witchbrook is a charming life-sim and social RPG set in the magical seaside city of Mossport, where players attend Witchbrook College to train as witches. Developed by indie studio Chucklefish, with co-development by Robotality, the game blends everyday life with fantasy as players explore a spellbinding world, form relationships, and uncover secrets on their journey to graduation. Featuring broom travel, spellcasting, and romance, Witchbrook is set to launch in Winter for PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox.

Metroid Prime 4 Beyond – 2025

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is an upcoming single-player action-adventure game developed by Retro Studios and published by Nintendo, set to release in 2025 for both the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. Continuing Samus Aran’s journey, the game introduces new psychic abilities and takes place on the mysterious planet Viewros, where she faces off against the rival bounty hunter Sylux. Originally announced in 2017 and initially developed by Bandai Namco, the project was restarted in 2019 under Retro Studios with returning producer Kensuke Tanabe. The game marks a more cinematic evolution of the Metroid Prime series and was officially titled Beyond in June 2024.

Kirby Air Riders – 2025

Kirby Air Riders is a long-awaited sequel to the 2003 GameCube racing spinoff Kirby Air Ride, announced during the April Nintendo Switch 2 presentation with a trailer and a 2025 release window. Though gameplay details remain under wraps, the reveal showcased colorful Kirbys and sleek new space-themed vehicles. The game marks the return of series creator Masahiro Sakurai as director, hinting at a faithful yet evolved take on the original’s fast-paced racing mechanics. Following the success of Kirby and the Forgotten Land, expectations are high for this new high-speed adventure.

Elden Ring Tarnished Edition – 2025

Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition was announced during the April Nintendo Direct, confirming the action RPG’s debut on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Set for release in 2025, this edition includes the full base game and the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. The trailer showcased key gameplay elements, including battles with iconic bosses and exploration of both familiar and new areas. Exclusive to this version are four new armor sets and three visual customization options for the spectral steed.

Hades II – 2025

Hades II is a roguelike action RPG developed and published by Supergiant Games as a sequel to the Hades (2020), marking the studio’s first follow-up title. It entered early access on PC in May 2024, with a macOS release and major updates following later that year. Set after the events of the original, the game follows Melinoe, Princess of the Underworld and sister of Zagreus, as she battles Chronos, the Titan of Time, with support from Olympian gods and her mentor, Hecate. Featuring new mechanics like a “Magic Bar” and branching paths through multiple biomes, the game expands on its predecessor’s core gameplay. Hades II will see its full release on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, where it will launch as a console exclusive.

The Duskbloods – 2026

The Duskbloods is an upcoming action role-playing multiplayer game developed by FromSoftware and published by Nintendo, set to release in 2026 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2. Directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game supports up to eight players in both PvP and PvE modes. Players take on the role of unique vampire-like characters called Bloodsworn, each with distinct weapons, abilities, and customizable traits influenced by their “blood history and fate.” Gameplay involves dynamic objectives, role-based missions, and an event system that can alter match conditions. Inspired by Gothic and Victorian aesthetics, The Duskbloods blends combat and lore through a romanticized vampire theme. Initially conceived for the original Switch, development pivoted to Switch 2 to enhance online features and overall scope.
