$1.4 Million Worth of Nintendo Switch 2 Consoles Stolen in Major Heist

Nintendo’s latest console, the Switch 2, has become a global sensation. Launched on June 5, it sold over 3.5 million units in just four days—making it the fastest-selling game console in history. With upgraded hardware and features like GameChat and GameShare, the Switch 2 is in high demand, prompting Nintendo and retailers to work hard to keep shelves stocked.

But success has also made it a target.

Authorities report that nearly 3,000 Switch 2 consoles, worth about $1.4 million, were stolen from a truck en route from Nintendo’s headquarters in Redmond, Washington, to a GameStop in Grapevine, Texas. The theft was discovered on June 17 at a Love’s Truck Stop in Bennett, Colorado. The driver said he noticed the break-in during a routine inspection but didn’t know what he was hauling.

It’s unclear how or when the theft occurred, or how many suspects were involved. The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office is asking for public tips. Nintendo has yet to comment on its role in the ongoing investigation.
