Nintendo has confirmed that Donkey Kong Bananza, coming to Switch 2 on July 17, is being developed by the same team behind Super Mario Odyssey — likely Nintendo EPD Tokyo.

At a recent media preview, Nintendo revealed the developer is based in Tokyo, but stopped short of confirming if key Odyssey staff are involved. In fact, they wouldn’t even confirm who’s directing the game.

With Odyssey now nearly 8 years old, fans hoping for Mario’s next big 3D adventure may have a longer wait — especially if this team is focused on Donkey Kong for now.
