Nintendo has announced that Super Mario Strikers, the classic 2005 GameCube soccer game, will be added to the GameCube app for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers on July 3. The game will be the fourth available title in the app, alongside F-Zero GX, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, and Soulcalibur II. Access requires the Expansion Pack upgrade.
Developed by Nintendo and Next Level Games, Super Mario Strikers features five-on-five matches with characters like Mario, Luigi, Peach, and sidekicks like Toad and Koopa. Players can use power-ups like Mushrooms and Stars to gain an edge during matches. It was the final Mario title released on the GameCube before the Wii’s debut.
Nintendo has also teased more GameCube titles coming soon, including Super Mario Sunshine and Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness. Meanwhile, a clone called Mariostro Strikers briefly appeared on the Xbox Store earlier this year before being removed, likely due to copyright issues.
With Strikers returning and Super Mario Party Jamboree launching later in July, fans can expect a packed month of Mario content.
